RO42—Local Shapes

On the occasion of the 2020 edition of the Romanian Design Week, the Local Design Circle Association invited 42 local designers to make a flag for the 42 counties in Romania. They set out to create an exhibition through which to create a common framework for the community of designers in the country. For the graphic representation of the counties, the participants had a common theme the construction of images from the basic geometric shapes: circle, square, triangle, but with the possibility to create other shapes through intersections, overlaps or resizing.

I was invited to reimagine Constanța, my home town. Constanța County is a place you can’t easily detach from. For me, the anchor is a close connection with the sea, a root. Regardless of the urban or cultural changes that the county has gone through (and will continue to go through), the sea will always be there, unchanged.
